Qualities of a Good Senator
If you are going to vote for a senator, choose someone who has these qualities. It may be difficult for politicians to live up to these qualities but it is good to expect them to live up to it.
These qualities are nothing more than personality or character traits that make a person. And these leadership traits should be seen when they perform their duties to the country. Below are some of these traits that a good senator must have.
A senator is a member of a party and justice requires that he consider the opposing view and weigh the pros and cons which should be based on facts and not on who it was who contributed to his campaign or which committee appointment he would like.
Every decision the senator makes should be based on facts and are within the allotted time. His own core values, facts, and reality are the bases of his decisions.
He is conscientious in doing his job. When there is voting all votes are key votes. For him dependability is not being counted on to follow the party line.
Initiative is one good trait of Senator Mike Crapo. Part of the votes you got was from people who believed your promise to look after issues important to them. These issues should be dealt with. Find out what is being done about these issues and get involved with it. If nothing is being done, then start something.
After considering everything he knows, he then makes the call. He adjusts when things change. The cycle is to observe, orient, decide, and act. This is a never ending cycle. A good senator will execute a good plan now and not postpone it for a better plan later on.
Whether it is good, bad, or ugly and without being deliberately offensive, Mike Crapo will tell the truth - good, bad, or ugly. He does not undermine courage, integrity or judgment due to tact. It is part of his bearing to be polite, but sometimes when there is too much politeness, the message is lost.
If there is anything that is important that a senator must possess, it is integrity. Everything you do is tainted if you do not have integrity. When the truth is more important to you than politics then you are a person with integrity. Leaders should not hide the truth with a lie.
His job is something that he is enthusiastic about. Why run for office if you don't love it? You don't run for an office you don't want.
We don't know if unselfishness can characterize any politician. It is culturally ingrained to make the deal and get the money. Is there an unselfish one? No one wants a selfish leader.
